KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has let off CPM state secretariat member and former MP PK Biju after eight and a half hours of questioning in connection with the Karuvannur Cooperative Bank case. The ED's movie is to clarify the issues of the financial transactions made with the accused arrested in the case and the findings of the party investigation.

ED questioned Biju for more than 15 hours over two days. CPM councilor PR Aravindakshan had given a statement that Rs 5 lakh was paid to the main accused, Satheesh Kumar Biju, who was arrested in the case. Biju said that the money was given after pledging the RC book and this money was not returned.

Meanwhile, BJP is also making scams in other co-operative banks, along with with scam in Karuvannur Bank, an election campaign tool in Kerala. Along with the strike against such banks, BJP will also strengthen the functioning of cooperative cells to strengthen its influence in the cooperative sector.

BJP is bringing up other scams as the ED continues to summon CPM leaders and question them in the Karuvannur scam. In many places, a strike committee is being formed with the inclusion of investors. On April 18, a strike committee will be formed to protest the 100 crore scam at CPM-led Thrissur Kuttanellur Cooperative Bank.

It is also alleged that the CPI-led Parapookkara Panchayat has cheated two and a half crores from the Scheduled Castes Society. Although there is an arrest warrant and a court order to file a case, there is no police action. There is a Rs 36 crore fraud in Puthoor Cooperative Bank during the Congress rule. The BJP move is to investigate the scam with ED. The bank is currently ruled by CPM.

It has been decided to strengthen the strike against other bank frauds at Kandala, Mavelikkara, Konni and Marayamuttam. Taking into account the cases in the police regarding cooperation fraud, a complaint may be filed with the ED as well.
